HIIT

High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a very popular way of building fitness but without having to spend time in extended training sessions. HIIT training involves carrying out really intense cardiovascular exercise but for a short period, maybe less than a minute, followed by a period of Joe Wicks 2slower, less intense, exercise. This pattern of intense followed by more gentle, exercise is repeated a number of times.

With HIIT you burn lots of calories during the exercise but research has shown that your metabolism stays high for an extended period afterwards greatly increasing the calorie burn. This makes HIIT a great way to help out a weight loss programme.

The HIIT group meet on Monday evenings at 6:30pm and usually work out alongside Joe Wicks using one of his fitness videos. The sessions, including warm ups and cool downs, last for around just 40 minutes, so it’s easy to fit a HIIT session into your daily schedule. On the first Monday of the month they start at the earlier time of 6:15pm to allow for the Parish Council meeting afterwards.

The group is a friendly, welcoming one with a wide range of ages and fitness levels. The first session is free so you can pop along for a taster. Afterwards, people contribute £2 per week to cover costs.
