Almost December, when it finally becomes legal to put up your Christmas decorations. Still some November events to come but the December dates are now here too.
The November Church Coffee Morning will be held on the 30th and will be held in the Village Hall as there will be a range of local artists and crafts folk who will be exhibiting their wares in order that you can do a bit of early Christmas shopping. Doors open at 10am and stay open until midday. All are very welcome to drop in for a cuppa, a biscuit or a nice slice of homemade cake.
The church are also holding a Quiz Evening on the evening of 30 November. Village Hall doors open at 7:00pm for a 7:30pm start. £8 for each team of 4 (max). Mince pies and light refreshments and hot drinks will be available/ Bring your own drink and glasses. Tickets from Tina (723606) or Ruth (722914)
The Lighting of the Christmas Tree with Burtle Silver Band is always a sell out event. This year it is taking place on Saturday 7th December with the Hall doors opening at 7pm for a 7:30pm kick off. Always a fantastic event which marks the start of Christmas in the village. Mulled wine and mince pies.
The December Church Coffee Morning takes place at Jim and Morag’s house, Old Manor Farm on 14 December. Everyone is welcome and these coffee mornings (with top baking offerings to boot) are a lovely way to meet up with friends and neighbours for a natter. 10:00am to 12:00pm.
On the evening of Saturday 14th the Final of Strictly Come Dancing will be shown on the big screen and new sound system in the hall. Doors (and bar) open at 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start. This event will have catering from Glastonbury Wood Fired Pizzas who will be in attendance through the screening. A Bar, Strictly and a Top Class Pizza – it doesn’t come much better than this!!
Christmas services at the Church include a Carol Service at 7:00pm on the 20th and a Crib Service at 3:00pm on Christmas Eve. The nearest Midnight Mass is at St Mary’s in Moorlynch, starting at 11:30pm.

Painting and Drawing
An art class for beginners. Meet every Thursday evening in the village. New members are very welcome.
A group of local folk, of all standards, meet on Sunday mornings for a run (or walk) around the local lanes.
Valerie Rowe-Clark has been teaching Yoga for over 25 years and leads classes on Tuesday evenings and Friday mornings
On the last Saturday of the month, the Church organises a get together in someone's house for a hot drink, cake and a chat.
The HUB Cafe opens from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on a Saturday in the middle of the month. A very popular get together event.
The monthly Village Cinema shows current movie and some all time classics. The bar is usually open before the curtains go up.....
HIIT is High Intensity Interval Training. Work out on a Monday evening to one of Joe Wicks's exercise videos.
Short Mat Bowling
The Short Mat Bowlers meet every Wednesday and Friday evening for some sociable fun and exercise in the village hall
