September brings with it the resumption of any activities which took a break over summer.
The Thursday evening Drawing and Painting Group begin again on 5 September. We meet for a 7:00pm start and new members are very welcome. Even if you are a complete beginner you are very welcome – you will be amazed at how quickly you progress under Karen’s expert guidance.
The Glastonbury Wood Fired Pizza Company has returned! Iain recommenced his fortnightly service on Thursday 15 August. Details, menus etc are all available here.
On 19 September we see the welcome return of…The Lunch Bunch! A lovely opportunity to sample the delightful lunch offerings from the students of Avalon School. The food is great, the students likewise and another opportunity to meet up with friends and neighbours. The doors open around 12:00pm and service continues until 2:00pm. Please do your absolute best to come along and support the students.
The HUB Cafe makes a very welcome return on 21 September. Doors open at 10:30am and service continues until 1:00pm. A great opportunity for a Saturday brunch or lunch (or both) with friends and neighbours. If you have never been to a HUB Cafe before, there are some extra details here.
The Village Film Night is also on 21 September. Doors (and bar) open at 7:00pm. The first showing of this season is Stan and Ollie. This is a lovely film which follows Oliver and Hardy in their later years when they toured in the UK. Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly star as Stan and Ollie and put in outstanding performances of the duo as they try to revive their fading careers.
Coogan and Reilly’s performances are among the best either has ever given. This film, which pays wonderfully funny tribute to two comic legends, richly deserves them.
The September Church Coffee Morning will be held on the 28th and will be hosted by Jean and Frank Reynolds at 5 Old Apple Store. Coffee mornings run from 10:00am to 12:00pm and are another fab way to get to meet and chat with fellow villagers and friends. All are very welcome to drop in for a cuppa, a biscuit or a nice slice of homemade cake.
A few early notices about October events. The HUB Cafe and Film Night will be quite early in the month, taking place on October 5th. The annual Harvest Supper is on 12 October and a Singing Workshop, where all are welcome, will be held on 13 October. Check the poster for details and let Carol Gange-Harris know if you are going so they know how many to expect.
